 THE ALOOF AND POMPOUS THABO MBEKI HASN'T HEALED FROM THE POLOKWANE HUMILATING DEFEAT!


This week we have been bombarded with the news of the former state president Thabo Mbeki agreeing to campaign for the desperate African National Congress in the lead up to the 2024 National and Provincial Elections . South Africa is gearing up for the watershed elections which have been dubbed the most important elections since 1994. Some have even gone as far as terming this elections as their 1994. One of the reasons which made this elections so important and intense is because for the first time since 1994 the governing African National Congress is not guaranteed of a victory. There exists a real possibility of the African National Congress dropping below 50 % for the first time since the don of democracy in 1994.
Majority if not all the polls are polling the African National Congress below 50 %.

These polls were polling the African National Congress in the late to mid 40s before the emergence of the Zuma backed uMkhonto WeSizwe Party, with the emergence of the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party the polls have dropped the ANC into the early 40s. The same polls have polled the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party at 10-11%, and it is common language that majority of this 11% will be coming from the out of soughts African National Congress. The African National Congress being aware of its looming demise especially at the hands of the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party, it has been running in and out of the courts firstly to try and get the UMkhonto WeSizwe Party deregistered ,secondly to prevent UMkhonto WeSizwe Party from using its current name, logo and colors. Thirdly it has been mobilizing and hoping that the Independent Electoral Commission will come to its rescue and prevent former president Jacob Zuma from appearing on the candidate list to Parliament. Well, the ANC has lost all of these cases. Through all these court cases the arrogant ANC has provided the UMkhonto WeSizwe Party with free media coverage.

It is out of the desperation caused by all the factors I have already mentioned above that the ANC has gone to former president Thabo Mbeki begging him to campaign for the ANC. Thabo Mbeki has agreed to campaign for the ANC ,this is despite him being on record saying he will never campaign for an ANC which is led by thugs. This he said not so long ago(last year), so some may ask, what has changed for Mbeki to now do a uturn to campaign for an ANC that is led by thugs?. Well in order for us to understand why Mbeki has flipflopped on this matter, we must go back to the ANC 2007 Elective Conference held in Polokwane(pre and post). It was at this Conference where Jacob Zuma crushed Thabo Mbeki in the contest for the ANC Presidency, this conference came 2 years after Mbeki had fired Zuma as his deputy. The pompous and aloof Thabo Mbeki was so sure that he will never be defeated by a peasant from Nkandla who only had Standard 2 as his formal education, compared to Mbeki who went to the best schools in London. With Jacob Zuma firmly in charge of the ANC in 2008, the ANC humilated Mbeki even further when it fired him as state president.

The proud, pompous and elitist Mabeki has not recovered from this humiliation at the hands of Jacob Zuma. This explains why Mbeki has now done a uturn on campaigning for the ANC which is led by thugs according to his words, it is because Jacob Zuma is back in the picture and campaigning for the UMkhonto WeSizwe Party . The jealous and bitter Mbeki is still in competition with Zuma.

 WHAT HAS BECOME OF THE TSHIAME SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE(SEZ)?. Tshiame in Harrismith under the Maluti A Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State province is one of the areas which have been earmarked to benefit by having the Special Economic Zone.The Special Economic Zones within South Africa are geographically designated areas set aside for specifically targeted economic activities to promote national economic growth and exports by using support measures to attract foreign and domestic investments and technology .  THE COMMUNITY OF GREATER TSHIAME FACES A BLEAK FUTURE UNDER THE MALUTI A PHOFUNG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY!. In my adult life I have not known any community which has had more misfortunes than the community of Greater Tshiame when it comes to the electricity and water provision. In the time just under a decade we have had close to five incidents of total power outage with the first major incident occurring in December of 2014 and the power was only restored in January of 2015. The second incident occurred in October of 2015 with the power only being restored in December of 2015. The third incident occurred in December of 2021, the power was only restored in January 2022. The fourth incident took place in February of 2023 with power only restored after three weeks.
