 WHY DID FLOYD SHIVHAMBU DROP THE EFF FOR MKP?


On Thursday the 15th August 2024 South Africa was greeted by the shocking news of the departure of one Floyd Shivhambu from the Economic Freedom Fighters. The Economic Freedom Fighters convened a Press Briefing in which Floyd Shivhambu announced his decision to leave the Economic Freedom Fighters to join the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party. Floyd Shivhambu did not provide the reasons behind his departure and promised to speak when the time is right and did not want to utilize the platform of the EFF as that would be tantamount to campaigning for the MKP on the EFF platform. Plenty of speculation has followed, with different media platforms reporting on the fallout between the two leaders who established the EFF.

Floyd Shivhambu is a founding member of the Economic Freedom Fighters, together with Julius Malema they established the EFF back in 2013 this is after their exit from the ANC. Julius Malema was expelled from the ANC whilst Floyd Shivhambu was suspended from the ANC, Floyd Shivhambu was never expelled from the ANC, it is important that this is corrected because some in the media including the mainstream media and their so-called analysts have been feeding the masses this lie.
The Relationship between Julius Malema and Floyd Shivhambu goes as far back as in 2005 when they were both ANC Youth League members and Floyd was already working for organizations such as Cosatu and the SACP , he was working in the Cosatu education department tasked with capacitating Cosatu Shopstewards.

Floyd Shivhambu is the man behind the ANC Youth League policies which were adopted in its Conference in 2011 at Ghalager Estate under the theme ECONOMIC FREEDOM IN OUR LIFE TIME.
It was this policies which were to find expression in the founding documents of the Economic Freedom Fighters in 2013. Indeed in the years that followed the establishment of the Economic Freedom Fighters, Floyd Shivhambu was to become a key cog in the EFF machinery not just because he served as its Deputy President but because of his intellectual prowess . He was definitely the brain power and a think tank for the Economic Freedom Fighters. For those who do not know, Floyd Shivhambu is a Political Scientist he has a PHD.
The man has so much brilliant and coherent ideas on how to take South Africa out of the morass it finds itself in, those who have had an opportunity to listen to him debate in Parliament or read his papers will attest to this.

Now the question becomes, why did Floyd leave an organization that he co-founded and became its intellectual reservoir?. It is well known that the Economic Freedom Fighters is goin to its own National Elective Conference(National People's Assembly) in December this year, and there has been rumors that the likes of Marshall Dlamini(the current Secretary General) and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (ex National Spokesperson) were going to challenge him for the Deputy President position. It is believed that Floyd Shivhambu would have lost that contest because of how the EFF performed in KZN during the 29 May 2024 National and Provincial Elections where the EFF lost more than 300000 votes to the MKP. Floyd was deployed to KZN but was removed and replaced with Marshall Dlamini around March and some within the EFF are blaming Floyd for the dismal performance.

Why is Floyd joining the MKP?
It is not yet clear what will be his role in the MKP, but what we know it is that he brings a wealth of experience in organizing ,building structures from the ground. Plus his intellectual and ideological prowess will definitely be a great addition to the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party which is going through a process of building structures .

Tshiame in Harrismith under the Maluti A Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State province is one of the areas which have been earmarked to benefit by having the Special Economic Zone.The Special Economic Zones within South Africa are geographically designated areas set aside for specifically targeted economic activities to promote national economic growth and exports by using support measures to attract foreign and domestic investments and technology .  THE COMMUNITY OF GREATER TSHIAME FACES A BLEAK FUTURE UNDER THE MALUTI A PHOFUNG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY!. In my adult life I have not known any community which has had more misfortunes than the community of Greater Tshiame when it comes to the electricity and water provision. In the time just under a decade we have had close to five incidents of total power outage with the first major incident occurring in December of 2014 and the power was only restored in January of 2015. The second incident occurred in October of 2015 with the power only being restored in December of 2015. The third incident occurred in December of 2021, the power was only restored in January 2022. The fourth incident took place in February of 2023 with power only restored after three weeks.
