 FORMER PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA WON'T CAMPAIGN FOR THE ANC IN 2024!


Today the 16th December 2023 the former President Jacob Zuma has announced he will not campaign for the governing African National Congress (ANC) in the upcoming National and Provincial Elections in 2024. The former President has advanced a plethora of issues and reasons behind his decision to not campaign for the ANC in 2024.

Amongst the other reasons he listed it is that the ANC has betrayed the cause of the revolution and abandoned the mission for National Democratic Revolution. He has accused the ANC of Ramaphosa of declaring a war against the Black professionals . This development will clearly be subject to a number of analysis going forward.

The former President has announced he will be voting for newly registered Umkhonto WeSizwe Party.What impact will this decision have on the political dynamics going forward to the 2024 National and Provincial Elections?. There we expectations from some of the quarters of our society that he will join hands with the Economic Freedom Fighters considering the close relations that have developed between those close to him and the EFF e.g Mzwanele Manyi the Spokesperson for the Jacob Zuma Foundation is a prominent member of the Economic Freedom Fighters and its Member of Parliament , President Zuma's close ally Carl Neihaus collapsed his organisation 2 days ago to join the EFF.Some expected President Zuma to join hands with his other ally who is the expelled ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule in his newly formed political Party the African Congress for Transformation(ACT). 

It is still early days for one to provide concrete analysis on the prospects of the newly formed MK Party because for one to be able to provide objective analysis on its prospects ,firstly must study its structures and how well represented it is across all corners of the country. What cannot be called into question is the popularity and pull President Zuma has in the country,and it is likely to affect the vote share of the ANC. The possibility of a Front of progressive forces made of the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF),African Transformation Movement(ATM),Pan Africanist Congress of Azania(PAC),African Congress for Transformation(ACT),Black First Land First(BLF),the Land Party and the UMkhonto WeSizwe Party might be an exciting prospect. This may well be a correct vehicle against the Right Wing coalition of the DA,FF Plus,IFP,Action SA.

2024 is promising to be an exciting year interms of electoral politics.

 WHAT HAS BECOME OF THE TSHIAME SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE(SEZ)?. Tshiame in Harrismith under the Maluti A Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State province is one of the areas which have been earmarked to benefit by having the Special Economic Zone.The Special Economic Zones within South Africa are geographically designated areas set aside for specifically targeted economic activities to promote national economic growth and exports by using support measures to attract foreign and domestic investments and technology . SEZ is an area in which the business and trade laws are different from the rest of the country.One of the major advantages of Special Economic Zones is that there is a clause of total exemption of the income tax on the income incurred via export through these SEZs.  THE COMMUNITY OF GREATER TSHIAME FACES A BLEAK FUTURE UNDER THE MALUTI A PHOFUNG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY!. In my adult life I have not known any community which has had more misfortunes than the community of Greater Tshiame when it comes to the electricity and water provision. In the time just under a decade we have had close to five incidents of total power outage with the first major incident occurring in December of 2014 and the power was only restored in January of 2015. The second incident occurred in October of 2015 with the power only being restored in December of 2015. The third incident occurred in December of 2021, the power was only restored in January 2022. The fourth incident took place in February of 2023 with power only restored after three weeks.
