WILL THE ANC/SACP ALLIANCE SURVIVE THE SO-CALLED GNU?

WILL THE ANC/SACP ALLIANCE SURVIVE THE SO-CALLED GNU?.

There's been public spats between the African National Congress and its alliance partner the South African Communist Party since the formation of the grand coalition between the ANC and the Democratic Alliance, of course this grand coalition has been clothed as a Government of National Unity. As explained on several times this arrangement does not meet the minimum requirements of a Government of National Unity therefore it lacks all the characteristics of a Government of National Unity. The South African Communist Party General Secretary Solly Mapaila had an interview with Dr Sizwe Mpofu Welsh on his Youtube platform . It is in this interview where the SACP General Secretary reiterated their unhappiness with the ANC's decision to go into a coalition with the racist and neo-liberal Democratic Alliance.

Mapaila did not mince his words as he termed this move by the ANC as a sellout deal. He characterized the ANC as an organization which is led and dominated by the Neo-liberal faction which is spearheaded by the president. This is a faction which is determined to roll back the gains made by the working class in this country, the working class which is in majority are Black people. It can be seen by its determination to privatize the State Owned Companies. The SACP has raised a concern that the so-called consultation by the ANC leadership before formalizing the so-called Government of National Unity was nothing but a sham as no true consultation between the alliance partners took place. No meaningful engagement was allowed. The assertions by Mapaila confirm what some of the ANC National Executive Committee members have been saying that the outcomes of the NEC meeting which was tasked with deciding on the coalitions were manipulated and what Ramaphosa announced as outcomes were in fact not a true reflection of what transpired in the NEC meeting.

Immediately after Mapaila's interview was aired, the ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula released a series of Twitts or posts on X(Formerly Twitter) where he sought to defend the ANC against the attacks by the SACP. In one of the posts he said "The ANC is not a branch of the SACP". The public spats are compelling us to ask the question WILL THE ANC/SACP ALLIANCE SURVIVE THE SO-CALLED GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY?. I mean for the longest of times the SACP had been complaining about the ANC not consulting or involving its Alliance Partners in key government decisions. This led to the SACP calling for the reconfiguration of the Alliance. Now one can only imagine how of a frustration will the SACP have to endure with the ANC having dropped to 40% and now has partners in through the grand coalition. This means the SACP has been relegated to the peripheries .

The ANCYL president has entered the fray and asked the SACP why has not withdrawn its leaders who are serving in the so-called Government of National Unity. And it is a valid question.
